PROF. VEDRAN BILAS,

Biography

Vedran Bilas was born in Makarska in 1968. He received Dipl.Eng., M.Sc. and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER), Zagreb, Croatia, in 1991, 1995 and 1999, respectively.

From January 1992 he is working at the Department of Electronic Systems and Information Processing at FER. In June 2010 he was promoted to Full Professor. He participated in 7 scientific projects financed by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia, 1 PoC BICRO project, 1 COST project and 2 EU FP7 projects. Currently, he is a project leader of research projects: "Enabling Inductive Metal Characterisation in Non-cooperative Soils " financed by the Find a Better Way foundation from the United Kingdom and „Enhancing research and development of energy-efficient networked sensor systems“ funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation., He published more than 100 papers in journals and conference proceedings in the area of electromagnetic inductive methods, electronic systems for harsh environments and smart sensors and sensor networks.

Prof. Bilas is a member of IEEE and a member of the Croatian Society for Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics. He participated in 10 conference international programs committees, he is member of a journal editorial board and he serves as a technical reviewer for various international journals. He received silver medal "Josip Lončar" from FER for outstanding Ph.D. theses in 2000 and IEEE Croatia Section Outstanding Educator Award in 2011.


PROF. Paolo Mattavelli,

Paolo Mattavelli from the University of Padua, Italy

Paolo Mattavelli (Fellow, IEEE) received the M.S. degree (with hos.) and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Padova, Padua, Italy, in 1992 and 1995, respectively.,From 1995 to 2001, he was a Researcher with the University of Padova. From 2001 to 2005, he was an Associate Professor with the University of Udine, Udine, Italy, where he led the Power Electronics Laboratory. In 2005, he joined the University of Padova in Vicenza with the same duties. From 2010 to 2012, he was with the Center for Power Electronics Systems (CPES), Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA. He is currently a Professor with the University of Padova. His current Google Scholar h-index is 75. His research interests include analysis, modelling, and analogue and digital control of power converters, grid-connected converters for renewable energy systems and microgrids, high-temperature and high-power density power electronics. In these research fields, he has been leading several industrial and government projects.,From 2003 to 2012, Dr. Mattavelli served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics. From 2005 to 2010, he was the Industrial Power Converter Committee (IPCC) Technical Review Chair for the IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications. From 2003 to 2006, from 2006 to 2009, and from 2013 to 2015, he has been a Member-at-Large of the IEEE Power Electronics Society's Administrative Committee. He was the recipient of the Prize Paper Award in theIEEE Transactions on Power Electronics in 2005, 2006, 2011, and 2012 and the 2nd Prize Paper Award at the IEEE Industry Application Annual Meeting in 2007. He is the Co-Editor in Chief for the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics. (Based on document published on 3 February 2021)
